Colourful Weddings

There are lots of different ways to add colour to your wedding, the obvious being bridesmaids dresses, flowers or room decor. But there may be other ways to brighten up your wedding.

1. Change the colour of your dress

White, or off-white as it has become more recently, is still the main choice for brides and bridal shops are filled with different shades with elaborate names such as oyster, isabelline and eggshell. But, many bridal shops are now stocking samples of coloured dresses and they’ve recently made a big comeback at bridal exhibitions. Red has always been a colour associated with weddings and a red wedding dress can make for striking wedding photographs, especially when teamed with red cravats and flowers. But now there are different colours making an appearance, such as pink, brown and blue. Making yourself the focus colour is a clever idea and would make sure that nobody would forget your dress in a hurry!

2. Book colourful transportation

The usual wedding transportation tends to be vintage cars, limousines, horse and carriages or executive cars. None of which come in any striking colours. But, if you really want to make an entrance there are companies out there offering VW Beetles or Minis in a range of bright colours. For a funky, colourful wedding car, one of these look fantastic and the novelty factor is huge! Convertible versions make for amazing wedding photographs. Or, as mentioned in a previous blog post, a red London bus in become a popular choice as all your guests get the opportunity to jump aboard. But, if you still like the idea of having a vintage car, there is an ice blue Beauford Tourer out there that looks stunning and will add a touch of colour without being too obvious.

3. Coloured confetti

This can only really be achieved in a dramatic way by using real rose petals. When picking your flowers, ask your florist to put together some baskets of bright coloured rose petals. There’s nothing more bright and colourful than all your guests surrounding you with coloured confetti flying through the air. Your wedding video and photographs would look stunning!

4. Add a colour theme

Not an idea seen often at weddings, not many that I’ve attended anyway, but having a set colour scheme for guests would pretty much guarantee colour at your wedding! And it means that you could dictate which colour is the focus of your day. Keeping the bridal party in neutral colours such as black or brown would look fantastic against guests wearing blue, red or purple.

5. Coloured balloons

These can be used in numerous ways. They can add colour to a neutral reception room, bunches placed on each table is the most popular idea or there may be an archway around the back of the top table. At night it gives some colourful height to the room and more often than not children end up stealing one of two to play with so you end up seeing them whizzing round the room! Coloured balloons in an exploder balloon works wonders for the first dance. Being surrounded by confetti and balloons is a lovely moment and brightens up your video or photographs. This is particularly handy if you’re nervous about the dance or have lots of children as guests who would join you on the dance floor trying the catch them. And finally, a balloon release would be a great way to get your guests involved in a part of your day. A colourful display of balloons disappearing into the sky makes a beautiful sight. You could even write messages on cards to attach to the balloons before they’re released, a special way to share your happiness on your wedding day.
